Dr. Bill East, Ed.D., has thirty years of experience in the fields of Education and Mental Health. He has been a high school teacher, a supervisor in the Alabama Mental Health System, an Adjunct College Professor, and an Education Specialist in the Alabama State Department of Education. Dr. East's educational preparation was accomplished at Jacksonville State University (AL), The University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, and Auburn University Montgomery, with specialities in Adaptive Physical Education, Special Education and Educational Administration. Dr. East was State Director of Special Education in Alabama from 1990-1998 and was honored in 1998 by the Alabama Federation Council for Exceptional Children as the Outstanding Special Educator in Alabama. Dr. East served as President of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE) in 1997, the year of the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Currently Dr. East works in Alexandria, Virginia, as the Executive Director of NASDSE.
